SENIOR CREDIT ANALYST

Responsibilities of the Senior Credit Risk Analyst

  • Responsible for answering all credit related questions for First Mortgage and Consumer loans in a timely and professional manner
  • Render decisions on complex loan files, calculate income, review appraisals to Agency, FHA, VA, Portfolio or Investor loans, the incumbent will carry Level IV underwriting authority and is required to use critical thinking to offer alternatives and detailed loan analysis.
  • Review decisions and mentors underwriting staff, staff being cross trained in credit underwriting and assists in training to sales, processing, underwriting and other staff
  • Demonstrates a high level of knowledge of credit and risk practices
  • SME on lending guidelines – Residential Agency, FHA, VA, Investor, HELOC, Consumer and Portfolio
  • Assists Credit Risk Manager with effective and timely communication of credit policy changes to consumer lending, commercial lending and first mortgage partners.
  • Assist Credit Risk Manager with updating policies and procedures to support consumer lending, commercial lending and first mortgage partners.
  • Weekly monitoring of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, and investors guidelines.
  • Assist with developing and delivering training on policy changes, guideline changes, and new product offerings.
  • Assist with developing new product offerings.

 

Required Experience of the Senior Credit Risk Analyst

  • Minimum of five years mortgage loan underwriting experience required including past lending authority for portfolio loans of $1M or greater
  • Subject Matter Expert in Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, various investor, FHA, and portfolio loan products.
  • Subject Matter Expert in Self Employed Income Analysis including complex income tax analysis, asset and liability analysis.
  • Subject Matter Expert in Agency collateral requirements including non-conforming properties and non-warrantable condos
  • Working knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to mortgage and consumer lending practices
  • Basic MS Office skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to make and convey difficult decisions.

  • VA LAPP preferred
  • FHA DE preferred
