The Principal Structured Finance team manages $12.2bn in AUM as of Q2 2020 across life-settlements, insurance-linked ABS securities, private financial bonds, capital efficient multi-sector credit solutions, and our strategic insurance co-investment platform. The team is comprised of 12 investment professionals globally focused on sourcing, structuring and monitoring investments across the insurance and credit landscape.
The Summer Associate position is full-time eligible.

You’ll partner with junior and senior level professionals on a range of projects at every stage of the investment cycle. As a Summer Associate on the Principal Structured Finance team you will, among others:
Provide analytical and project support for all investment related activities
Construct financial models, sensitivity analyses, comparable analyses and other bespoke financial analyses
Conduct exploratory research and perform analytics on potential investment opportunities alongside members of the team
Partner with senior team members in preparing internal and external client presentations
Participate in conference calls and meetings with investors, potential issuers, investment banks, Apollo investment professionals firmwide around the world, legal and tax counsel and other advisors
Assist the team with additional ad hoc projects
An MBA/Graduate student (class of 2022) with an excellent academic record and a demonstrated interest in finance through previous internships, jobs, and coursework
At least two years of experience in investment banking (industry coverage, M&A, FIG, or Leveraged Finance backgrounds preferred)
Understanding of complex financial instruments, financial markets, structured products, and rating agency criteria
Experience and exposure to insurance companies, banks, and/or pension funds; understanding the various regulatory environments and the current issues and opportunities facing these industries is a plus
A critical thinker with strong quantitative and analytical skills who expresses their thoughts and ideas clearly both in oral and written communications
A collaborative thinker who can also work independently, multitask, and prioritize competing demands to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
A proactive and organized self-starter with a positive attitude, powerful work ethic, strong attention to detail, and experience and comfort in Excel
